“What was your experience like auditioning for PENNIES”?

“We just had our auditions for PENNIES, and It was possibly the most interesting experience of my life. Normally the director is not there, but I wanted to be there, to see what it’s like on the other side. My whole life I grew up auditioning, and I always wondered what happened behind closed doors. Why did they take so long to ‘Discuss’ between auditions? What would they discuss?

Well, that becomes quite a secret, as in, what happens in the audition room, stays in the audition room. Kind of like seeing behind the scenes of Disney World (It ruins the magic). But this story will leave the room and stay with me forever. We had tons of talent, as well as a few verrrrry strange people. After one particular audition, I fell on the floor and died when the guy left through the door. My co-producer was reading for the other character in the script, and he was unaware of the fact that she was doing the reading, (He hadn’t done his homework of reading the script, yet, he wasn’t even scheduled for an audition time) so he was replying with his own words, and even thought that my co-producer was really asking him out on a date. It was too bizarre to be true.

I’m really glad I had this experience, because now I know what to do and what not to do the next time I ever decide to audition again.”
